Raids on undocumented immigrants living in the United States will begin on Sunday according to President Donald Trump.
The announcement has resulted in a sense of unease among immigrant groups, including undocumented Irish living in the US.
Mr Trump announced today (Friday) that raids by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency would be taking place.
“People come into our country illegally, we’re taking them out legally – very simple. It’s not something I like doing,” he said.
About 2,000 immigrant families are expected to be targeted in 10 cities across the country.
The raids are expected to focus on recently-arrived immigrants from the Mexican border area.
The raids will also focus in on immigrants who have missed court dates.
