The departure of John Delaney from the Football Association of Ireland will be discussed at a meeting of its board today.

Under increasing political pressure following the suspension of its Sport Ireland funding and its appearance before the committee last week, the FAI vowed last night to establish a new governance committee with additional independent members.

Delaney has told close colleagues that he will be stepping down.

The current members of the FAI are being urged to step down following the recent controversy.
