The EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, has said that Britain has become more likely in recent days to crash out of the EU without a deal.

Speaking at an event in Brussels he said: “Over the last days a no-deal scenario has become more likely, but we can still hope to avoid it,” he added: “We tried to make sure that the UK could leave the EU on March 29, just as the UK had foreseen itself… If the UK still wants to leave the EU in an orderly manner, this agreement, this treaty is and will be the only one.”
