Edinburgh is one step closer to becoming the first UK City to charge a ‘tourist tax’ for all tourists entering the City.

The Tax is set to charge £2 per night room charge, with campsites being an exception.

Councillors backed the plan by 43 votes to 15 votes last week.

It is estimated that this tax could add an extra £14.6 million every year to the Scottish economy.
