The incident took place as Varadkar held up a poster which related to medicinal cannabis use. It was swiftly pointed out that this broke house rules, and that it was forbidden to display a poster of that nature in the chamber.
As this took place, People Before Profit TD Gino Kenny berated the Taoiseach, loudly calling him a “disgrace”.
Kenny described what the Taoiseach did as “the lowest thing I’ve seen in this place.”
Gino Kenny took to Twitter to express his concerns later that night:
Today at promised legislation I raised the legitimate concerns on the delay around the proposed Cannabis Access Programme. It’s now two years since it was first mooted. Instead of answering the concerns Leo Varadkar chose to try and discredit PBP on the substantial issue. MIM
