The killing of a young man in Foxrock, Co Dublin on Thursday night involved the mutilation of the body, investigators say.
A woman in her 40s has been arrested in relation to the investigation.
She is being held at Dún Laoghaire Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 where she can be questioned for 24 hours before being charged or released.
It is understood alcohol and drugs were being consumed in the house prior to the death.
Both victim and suspect are understood to be from Ghana in Africa. Gardaí are attempting to establish if more than one person was involved in the killing.
