Cabinet change the retirement age for Irish Citizens

The Cabinet has agreed to amend the Retirement Bill that will in the future allow almost all public sector workers stay in their jobs until the age of 70.

The current retirement age for public sector workers is 65 but it is 60 years for members of the gardaĆ­.

Teachers can now finish off an academic year even if they turn 70 before the end of term
