Tanaiste Simon Coveney has said the UK government made commitments last December and March that there would be a backstop in place.

Simon Coveney said the British PM must make good on her commitments

Speaking as he arrived to meet fellow EU ministers in Luxembourg after Brexit negotiations stalled yesterday, Mr Coveney said: “Those commitments have been made in writing by the British government, and what we’re saying is we want no more and no less than the follow through of those commitments. That’s what needs to happen.”
